When is the last time you inspected your toolholders? How clean are the toolholders? Have problems with tools slipping? Have unwanted wavy lines in your cuts? Tired of paying too much for collets?
All contact surfaces should be cleaned regularly to extend the life of the tools, toolholders, collets and collet nuts. Use wire brushes to clean all the contact surfaces and threads. Collets are included in contact surfaces. The tool contacts the collet and the collet contacts the toolholder. Dirty collets can lead to unbalanced tools as well as resulting in a sprung collet. Regularly inspect the pull studs to insure they have not vibrated loose. Replace your old, worn out, sprung and unbalanced collets today!
